LAURA MCNAY – MARKETING MANAGER
Mum of two Laura has lived and worked in Dumfries all her life, and joined the Castle Hearing Team in April 2019. Having previously worked in various marketing roles including print and design, Laura brings a wealth of marketing experience and a fresh eye to Castle Hearing. She oversees our marketing function and manages our social media accounts and website on a daily basis as well as being an all round team player.
WHAT DOES A TYPICAL DAY INVOLVE?
“My day usually starts with getting the kids out of bed and ready for school! I arrive at work by 9.15 and my first task is to check emails and our social media platforms for messages or appointment requests.
We’re a small but flexible team here at Castle Hearing and it’s important that our customer has an excellent experience from their very first point of contact with us, so part of my working day involves helping out on reception, meeting and greeting customers with appointments for Hearing Tests, Microsuction Wax Removal or Hearing Aid Fittings.”
“I also spend a good part of the day updating our Facebook and Instagram accounts, sharing interesting news and stories that clients will find interesting, or explaining more about what we do – not everyone knows what a Hearing Test or Microsuction Wax Removal involves so it’s my job to explain it in simple terms.
It’s not all about doing things online. We enjoy getting involved in local community events too – the local radio station DCR Online recently organised a Family Fun Day in the Dumfries Dock Park and we had lots of fun activities for the family including face painting, potato printing – and a Mr Potato Head Race!
By 4.30 it’s time to pick up the kids and return to family life – taking them to after school activities like swimming, dancing and gymnastics. It’s exhausting but I wouldn’t change it for the world!”

“I enjoy the variety of the work here at Castle Hearing and the fascinating facts I’ve learned about the ear – did you know that the ear contains the smallest bone in the human body?”
